Preparing your business for the holiday season

Just as homeowners prepare their homes for the holiday season, businesses have some prep to do themselves. This time of year offers plenty of opportunities to really engage in conversation with your customers and market your company even further. Here are a few tasks to add to your to-do list this holiday season:

Offer holiday discounts
It's important to adjust your marketing strategy to fit the time of year. Include holiday sales and promotions to encourage existing customers to continue to use your business and to provide an incentive for new clients. For instance, when customers spend three or more nights in a hotel in December, they get upgraded to a suite. Or maybe for getting an oil change before the holidays, clients get a free interior and exterior detail. These incentives bring in business and build customer loyalty. And don't forget about Cyber Monday – a great opportunity to offer holiday discounts to your digital customers.

Mail holiday cards
Keep in touch with your customers and let them know how much their business and loyalty is appreciated by mailing business holiday cards. A short and sweet greeting like "Happy Holidays" along with a simple note takes very little time but gets your name out there to customers who you maybe haven't had contact with in awhile. You could even include a coupon or holiday discount within the card. Sending holiday cards is the perfect opportunity to update your client list, which serves as a basis for your marketing strategy. Try putting all of your client names and contact information into one easy-to-access database or spreadsheet.
