Celebrate a work anniversary

Work anniversaries are an occasion to be celebrated. They indicate the time and loyalty that your staff members have dedicated to your company. It’s important to acknowledge their efforts by letting them know you appreciate their work. Here are a few ways to show you care:

Give your employee a card
One way to celebrate someone’s work anniversary is with a greeting card. If your staff member has  his or her special day around the Fourth of July, consider giving them a festive “Happy Reflection Anniversary Card” which features bright pops of pyrotechnic color or the “Into The Sky Anniversary Card” which also features fireworks and bold hues. Are you looking for something a little more classic? Try the “In Style Anniversary Card,” which has beautiful calligraphy, or “Basic Words Anniversary Card” which offers a cheerful golden tone and elegant lettering.

Send a shout-out email
Many companies with major millennial employee bases will send an email to the entire team seeking positive thoughts on the anniversary celebrant and his or her time with the company. A manager will gather those statements and write up an email that is sent to the whole team, or posted on the internal business blog for all to see. Phrases like, “Kelly is a great contributor to group discussions and she always offers her winning smile,” are perfect for this praise-filled post. If you create one, be sure to reach out to both the celebrant’s colleagues and members of management.

Host a gathering
For small companies, it may be an option to have a get-together to honor employee anniversaries. Head to a local restaurant or bar to enjoy food and brews together. If you have a more adventurous team, try an outing like bowling, bumper cars or even kayaking. While this event is about getting together to enjoy one another’s company, you should still direct the focus on the staff member celebrating his or her anniversary. Perhaps do a toast where people call out what they like about the person, similar to the email mentioned above but in person.

Offer a gift
You know someone is truly dedicated to your company when they stay with you year after year. While a one-year anniversary may not warrant a gift, consider giving a present to someone who has been with your company for several years. Great options for gifts include a personalized notebook or leather desk calendar blotter. Or possibly a fancy pen with their name engraved into it. Showing you are thankful for someone’s hard work and loyalty just may encourage them to stay another year or two.
