Build relationships with employees through greeting cards

October 10, 2014

As a supervisor, it can be difficult to find new ways to connect with your employees. However, making those connections is important, as strong relationships can build employee loyalty and even improve job performance. Something as simple as a greeting card can be the perfect tool for strengthening relationships within the company. Whether you're congratulating an employee on a big promotion, or would like to offer a kind word regarding a successful presentation or project, business greeting cards can get the job done. Here are situations that would be a perfect opportunity for a card:

Work anniversary
It's crucial to keep track of all of your employees' work anniversaries. Each person at the company should be celebrated for being committed to the job and to your business for that period of time. Send a quick handwritten anniversary card to show gratitude for their commitment, hard work and loyalty. Take a moment to recognize a few of the accomplishments they've had over the course of the year, whether it was saving the company money or pleasing a large number of clients.

Of course, a card doesn't have to come on an anniversary – you can feel free to send one to your employees just because. In fact, going out of your way to express your gratitude for their loyalty to the company with a thank you card can speak volumes about how appreciative you are of all they do. When your employees know their efforts aren't going unnoticed, they're likely to keep up the good work.

Marriage or children
Did one of your employees tie the knot? Or is one of them expecting a child? Recognizing non-work events is just as important as remembering important happenings in the business world. A congratulations card is a simple way of expressing that you care about the staff both as employees and as people. After all, milestones like marriage and children are special events that warrant recognition.

Good luck on a presentation
Show your employees that you're up to speed on what's going on in the office by sending them an employee recognition card before a big presentation. Offer them best wishes and let them know you have the utmost confidence in their abilities. It's always nice to know when someone is rooting for you, especially when its your superior. That card can show that you're interested and involved in the day-to-day happenings of the business.
